North County gives us a different mix, real estate, hospitality, and the steady stream of construction work tied to new builds across the county. Most San Diego retainers fold the SoCal radius in by default. La Jolla is fifteen minutes from the studio, North County is the same arc the other direction, the greater Los Angeles area is two hours up the freeway, Orange County and the Inland Empire are inside the same drive. A production day in any of those markets is a same-day shoot, no travel-day surcharge, no hotel line item, no lost morning to the freeway. The only meaningful exception is when a brand wants a multi-day in LA and the post needs to keep moving in San Diego at the same time, and a retainer absorbs that without a line-item negotiation.

The studio carries the full Cinema Line kit, supporting glass, professional lighting and audio packages, gimbal and drone, and a calibrated color suite running DaVinci Resolve on a full ACES pipeline. The local crew bench is a deep one, second camera operators, gaffers, sound recordists, and production assistants who have shot in every neighborhood the city has, plus the relationships with venues and locations that come with having worked here for years. Pre-production happens on a phone call, not a six-week scoping document, because the room and the crew already know how San Diego shoots.

- The SoCal radius is a same-day arc from the studio. A production day in greater LA, OC, or the Inland Empire ships out of San Diego, runs the day, and is back in the suite by evening. No travel-day surcharge, no hotel line item, the timeline just runs from the call sheet.
- Is the studio set up for in-person color sessions?
- Yes. The color suite is calibrated, the monitor is the reference, and the workflow is a full ACES pipeline on DaVinci Resolve. Director and brand-team supervised sessions are welcome in person, and a remote review chain is available for clients who want to dial in from elsewhere.
- How do San Diego retainers work?
- A retainer holds production days, post windows, and the SoCal coverage radius across the calendar, usually one to three production days a month plus the post pipeline.
